Our Business GM is managed by Co-operatives UK.
- We will never sell or publish your personal data without explicit consent
- We may use the contact details you provided to tell you about our recent activity, services and events
- You can ask us to stop doing this at any time, including by emailing [email protected]
- We will only share your personal information with third parties where we are required to, or where it is necessary to fulfil a contract we have with you. Our contract with GMCA requires us to share information about how much the Our Business website is being used (please see Your Personal Data).

User Profile Privacy Settings
Once registered, users can control what data they make available to other users on Our Business Hub. Go to My Profile - My Settings - Privacy.
If you so choose, you can
- hide your profile from general users or specific groups (your profile will only then be viewable by administrators)
- prevent contact via Direct Messaging within the hub
- prevent other users from being able to book you on to attend events and training
- customise what information you allow users to be able to view on your profile. Please note, Our Business has automatically set some of your information to visible only by you and admin, e.g., information on protected characteristics such as ethnicity and disability status, and other relevant sensitive information, such as employment status and/or National Insurance details.
Your Personal Data
When registering for an account with Our Business GM, you will have been asked to share information, including sensitive personal data, such as your name, business address details, gender, disability status, ethnicity, employment status. We also asked for you to share either your National Insurance No., Unique Tax Reference No., or your Registered Company/Organisation No.
By providing this information when you register you will have noticed the Consent tick box to provide us with your consent to processing your personal data ("I give consent to Our Business to process the personal data shared in this registration form as per the statement above* and in line with the Co-operatives UK (CUK) Privacy Policy.")
*The statement above read "Our Business Hub is funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). GMCA require us to report anonymised aggregated data on user demographics (geographic and personal diversity monitoring data). We are also required to collect and report personal data (Names, Unique Tax Reference and National Insurance details) for users who access specialist support provided by Co-operatives UK. This is to evidence the range of people supported through this funding, and GMCA will share this data with the UK Government (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government).

You are entitled to ask us about the information we hold about you. To do this members must make a formal request for information we hold about them. Employees who receive a request should forward it to the Co-operatives UK Society Secretary immediately. When receiving telephone enquiries, we will only disclose personal data we hold on our systems if the following conditions are met:
- We will check the caller’s identity to make sure that information is only given to a person who is entitled to it.
- We will suggest that the caller put their request in writing if we are not sure about the caller’s identity and where their identity cannot be checked. Where a request is made electronically, data will be provided electronically where possible. It may not always be possible to provide data in hard copy format.
Deleting your account
Members cannot delete their own accounts.
Account deletion can only be processed by admins in the Back Office. Members can request an account deletion by contacting the community admins through the "Contact us" feature in their profile. Please mark in the subject title "Request to Leave Our Business GM".
Funding Partner and Data Sharing
Our Business Hub is funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). GMCA require us to report anonymised aggregated data on user demographics (geographic and personal diversity monitoring data). We are also required to collect and report personal data for users who access specialist support provided by Co-operatives UK, for example, Unique Tax Reference and National Insurance details. This is to evidence the range of people supported through this funding, and GMCA will share this data with the UK Government (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government).
GMCA will also share anonymised aggregated data with their evaluation partner, Ekosgen.
Co-operatives UK will analyse insights to improve the specialist support offer through Our Business Hub, and share reach and learning insights (excluding personalised data) with local VCSE Infrastructure Bodies.
